An update from your Kettering neighbourhood policing team |

Dear residents,
In April, we set three local priorities – Burglary, road safety and road traffic offences, and drug dealing and drug misuse. These were based on what local people told us concerned them most in their neighbourhood, as well as local crime statistics and information from our partners (such as the local council). These priorities have been the focus of much of our work over the last three months and below is an update about some of the work we have been doing to tackle them over the last three months.
Burglary During April, a number of town centre businesses were targeted by burglars. Through a combination of CCTV enquiries and facial recognition technology, officers were able to link the majority of these offences to a single suspect. The offender was identified, arrested and remanded into custody. Neighbourhood officers continue to support specialist burglary investigators by carrying out house-to-house enquiries, conducting leaflet drops and providing crime prevention advice to residents and businesses.
Road safety and road traffic offences Neighbourhood officers have been supporting colleagues from Corby as part of Operation Tides, an initiative aimed at tackling the illegal use of e-scooters. During the operation, more than 80 e-scooters were seized. Following reports of anti-social behaviour involving off-road motorcycles in Desborough, officers carried out a dedicated week of action in the area. This resulted in three motorcycles being seized and one man being reported for a number of road traffic offences. Officers have also conducted speed enforcement activity at various locations across Kettering, resulting in a number of motorists being reported for speeding offences.
Drug dealing and drug misuse Officers executed three warrants at addresses across the area, leading to the discovery and closure of three cannabis cultivation sites. Three men were arrested and subsequently remanded into custody. The team also targeted a vehicle known to be linked to suspected drug related activity. The vehicle failed to stop for police, resulting in a pursuit which was safely brought to a conclusion. The driver was arrested on suspicion of road traffic offences and possession of cocaine. During high visibility patrols in a priority area, officers encountered a man who was openly smoking cannabis outside his home address. Subsequent searches of the individual and the property led to the seizure of a significant quantity of suspected drugs and cash. The investigation remains ongoing. Neighbourhood officers have also continued to carry out regular safeguarding visits to addresses where occupants have been identified as vulnerable to exploitation by drug dealers (cuckooing).
