North Yorkshire Police Community Message
With the York Races Showcase Weekend taking place this July, North Yorkshire Police would like to wish everyone attending a safe and enjoyable time. Thousands of racegoers will be visiting York to enjoy a fantastic weekend of racing and entertainment. We ask everyone attending to help keep the event safe, enjoyable, and welcoming for all by making responsible choices and respecting the local communities around the racecourse and city centre. Please remember to: ✅ Plan your journey to and from the racecourse in advance. ✅ If you intend to drink alcohol, arrange a safe way home using public transport, a taxi, or a designated driver. ✅ Keep personal belongings, mobile phones, wallets, and bags secure at all times. ✅ Stay with friends where possible and look out for one another throughout the day and evening. ✅ Respect racecourse staff, city centre workers, local businesses, and fellow visitors. ✅ Be considerate when travelling through residential areas and neighbourhoods, particularly during the evening and when leaving the event. ✅ Dispose of litter responsibly and keep noise to a minimum when passing through residential streets. ✅ Report any suspicious activity or concerns to police officers or event staff. 🚗 Never drink and drive. If you are consuming alcohol, do not get behind the wheel. Drink-driving puts lives at risk and carries serious legal consequences. 🏘️ Respect Our Neighbourhoods Many residents live in the areas surrounding York Racecourse and along popular routes into the city. We ask racegoers to be mindful of those who call these neighbourhoods home by keeping noise levels down, respecting property, avoiding anti-social behaviour, and disposing of rubbish appropriately. Our officers will be patrolling throughout the event to support racegoers, residents, and businesses, helping to ensure everyone can enjoy the weekend safely. If you require police assistance, speak to an officer or event staff member. In an emergency, always dial 999. For non-emergency matters, contact North Yorkshire Police on 101. Thank you for helping to keep York safe, welcoming, and enjoyable for everyone. #YorkRaces #ShowcaseWeekend #CommunitySafety #RespectOurCommunities #EnjoyResponsibly #NorthYorkshirePolice | ||
