Hello Eastside,
I hope those who enjoy the warm weather are making the most of it!
I want to thank the Friends of Bradford Street for inviting me to their recent Community Forum. It's good to see such a good sense of community. Believe me when I say this type of activity is hard to set up and maintain, and this work is recognised by many people I have spoken with elsewhere in the area. One of the issues raised at this forum was a concern over speeding vehicles. I have gained access to a TruSpeed device, so expect to see us out speaking with drivers in a street near you soon.
The Digbeth BID comes a step closer to creation as local businesses and organisations are currently voting to support it or not. I look forward to hearing the results from this and working together where we can.
I have also been for a walk with the local engagement officer from the Canal and River Trust. He is a very enthusiastic gentleman with good visions for the canal, and how it can integrate with the local area. Check out how you can help at Ways to volunteer | Canal & River Trust.
Vehicle crime is beginning to see an increase across the city centre. I would like to recommend that you consider additional security for your vehicles and do not leave any valuables on display.
And as a final news item I was asked to attend the Children's Hospital and meet one of their very brave patients. I'm no Prince Harry, but this young lad certainly was full of smiles. Thank you to the police museum for helping that to happen.
