Make our roads safer for motorcyclists this summer |
||
|
This summer, we're asking all road users to make two simple changes that could save lives. Drivers: At junctions, expect a motorcycle. The main contributor to serious motorcycle collisions is drivers failing to see a rider when pulling out, turning or crossing traffic. Take an extra moment to look carefully before proceeding. Motorcyclists: Approach corners at a speed that allows you to stop within the distance you can see to be clear. The biggest contributor to serious collisions where the motorcyclist is at fault is where they overshoot a junction or carry out a poor turn or manoeuvre. Giving yourself time and space to react could prevent a serious collision. Although motorcyclists make up a small proportion of road users in Warwickshire, they are disproportionately involved in serious collisions. Last year, 75 motorcyclists were killed or seriously injured on Warwickshire's roads. By making small changes to the way we drive and ride, we can all play a part in reducing collisions and saving lives.
