🚨 E-Scooter Safety Reminder |
||
|
We have received reports of children riding e-scooters in the villages of Hirst Courtney, Hensall and Carlton. 👮 Our priority is keeping children safe. We will always seek to encounter, engage and educate young riders, but we would like to remind parents and guardians of the following: ⚠️ Privately owned e-scooters cannot be ridden on roads, pavements, cycle paths or other public places. 🛴 E-scooters are classed as motor vehicles To be used legally in public, riders need the appropriate licence and insurance. Approved rental schemes have these requirements in place, but privately owned e-scooters generally cannot obtain insurance and are therefore only permitted on private land with the landowner's permission. 🚔 The law applies to everyone These rules apply to both adults and under-18s. If a child is stopped using an e-scooter in a public place, we will provide advice and guidance to both them and their parents or guardians. 📋 There can be consequences If riders break the rules, police can seize their E-scooter. There may be a fee of at least £150 to reclaim it . Please speak with your children about the risks and responsibilities of e-scooter use and help us keep young people safe on our rural roads and within our communities. | ||
