Water safety presentation

Dear resident

In light of the recent tragic incidents involving open water across the region, I attended St Chad's Primary School in Uppermill and St Anne's Primary School in Lydgate today to speak with pupils about the dangers of entering open water, including reservoirs, rivers and canals.

The pupils were very attentive and provided some excellent answers to my questions, demonstrating a good understanding of water safety.

Several Year 6 pupils also successfully demonstrated the correct way to use a rescue line to assist someone who may be in difficulty, highlighting the importance of staying safe and knowing how to respond in an emergency.

Thank you to both schools for their warm welcome and engagement in this important safety message. Together, we can help keep our young people safe
