Rural Watch Update - 17/07/2026 |
||
|
Good morning everyone!
Happy Friday! Did anyone else feel like this week just flew by? I cannot believe we are halfway through July already!
Firstly, a huge thank you to everyone who took the time to speak with me at the Dalkeith Show. I was genuinely blown away by the pride, passion and commitment shown by everyone in attendance. It was inspiring to see so many people who recognise the importance of supporting local events like this, bringing together those from across the rural and farming community to connect and celebrate the industry.
I hope those of you in attendance, managed to get a photo with my sheep sign “Dolly” in the back of the van. If I had a £1 for each time I said to the kids “Now promise me this is going to be the first and last time you get in the back of a Police van” I would be a very rich lady haha!
I wanted to take this opportunity to let you all know that I am offering five home and personal security information evenings, across West Lothian starting from next week in partnership with Neighbourhood Watch Scotland. (I’ve attached the poster to this email) I would be very grateful if you can manage to pop along. I am very keen to extend these into Mid, East Lothian & The Borders. If you are part of a community group that would benefit from such, then please reach out to me on the email function. My local knowledge of these areas is limited so I would be very grateful for any help and guidance you can provide me. I’m also in discussions with the NFU in organising a “walk around the Farm” afternoons across our division. I know you’re all preparing for a very busy harvest season so we are looking to plot these in for winter/spring time. I will keep you all posted.
Now to business.
PEEBLES I’m afraid the suspects for this incident are still outstanding. My colleagues in the CID have conducted extensive CCTV trawls and forensic examinations. I’m sure we are all keeping our fingers crossed that the suspects will be identified soon. Once I have an update, I will let you all know.
WEST LOTHIAN Several thousands of pounds of copper have been stolen from the various new home developments across the area. A white van was observed on CCTV. If you have any information you can provide to Police, please contact ourselves or Crimestoppers anonymously.
Please keep your eyes open for a stolen grey trailer, Margret TT203 750kg. This was stolen two weeks ago from West Lothian. If you have any further information or have seen this trailer in circulation, please contact Police or Crimestoppers.
SCOTTISH BORDERS Several Milwaukee power tools were stolen from a shed in the Duns area. Entry was forced into the shed and the items taken from within. Please be vigilant and contact Police if you have any further information.
An ever so slightly shorter email this week thank goodness. Thank you very much for reading. I wish you all a lovely sunny weekend!
Take care, PC Robyn Hanna | ||
