Good morning, All. During our recent PLG meeting, several concerns were raised regarding the legality of e-bikes being used on our streets and the action being taken to address these issues. On 14 July 2026, whilst responding to another incident, PC Matthews and Sgt Ross Martyn seized an e-bike being ridden without the required insurance. We will continue to take enforcement action where offences are identified, including the seizure of illegally used e-bikes. Kindly see the attachment advice for all e-bike users to familiarise themselves with the relevant legislation and ensure their e-bike complies with legal requirements for use on public roads and highways. Taking the time to check that your e-bike is road legal and safe to use can help you avoid enforcement action, fines, penalty points, or the seizure of your vehicle.
