Joint Patrol Leads to Drug Arrest in Barkingside Officers from Barkingside and Fairlop Safer Neighbourhood Teams recently carried out a joint patrol focusing on reports of abandoned vehicles and other community concerns within the ward. Whilst conducting checks in the alleyway at Otley Approach, officers encountered a male who was openly consuming alcohol. During engagement, PCSO Nas 7113EA observed the male attempting to conceal what was believed to be cannabis in his pocket. The male was detained, and assistance was requested from police officers. A subsequent stop and search was conducted, resulting in cannabis being recovered. Following checks, it was established that the male had previously been dealt with for similar offending through a Community Resolution and a Penalty Notice for Disorder (PND). Given the previous disposal options already used, the male was arrested for possession of cannabis and taken into police custody for further investigation. This result highlights the value of proactive patrols and the vigilance of neighbourhood officers in identifying and dealing with criminality. Barkingside and Fairlop SNTs will continue to carry out patrols in hotspot locations, respond to community concerns and take robust action against those involved in crime and anti-social behaviour. If you witness suspicious activity in your area, please continue to report it via 101, 999 in an emergency, or through the Metropolitan Police online reporting services.
