Hounslow West Action Day – E-Bike Safety & Traffic Enforcement |
||
|
A successful multi-agency Action Day took place in Hounslow West at the Parade of Shops on Bath Road, bringing together officers and partners. The day focused on road safety, e-bike compliance, anti-social driving concerns, and community engagement. A significant number of vehicles, e-bikes, cycles and motorcycles were stopped and checked, providing an excellent opportunity to educate road users and ensure compliance with the law. Key outcomes included: ✅ Numerous vehicles, e-bikes and motorcycles stopped and checked The presence of enforcement and partner agencies was well received, with local shop owners expressing their satisfaction and appreciation for the visible action being taken to address concerns in the area. A reminder about e-bikes: Not all vehicles sold as "e-bikes" are legal electric bicycles. To be ridden without a licence or insurance, an electrically assisted pedal cycle (EAPC) must have working pedals, a motor rated at no more than 250 watts, and electrical assistance that cuts off at 15.5mph. Vehicles that do not meet these requirements may be classed as mopeds or motorcycles and require registration, insurance and a valid licence. [met.police.uk], [gov.uk] Blue Badge misuse is fraud. Badges are issued to assist eligible individuals and must only be used in accordance with the scheme rules. Misuse can lead to badges being confiscated and further enforcement action being considered. A huge thank you to all partner agencies, local businesses and members of the community who engaged with us throughout the day. Working together helps keep Hounslow West safe, accessible and welcoming for everyone.
