Joint Operation with Medway Council

Officers from Kent Police worked in partnership with Medway Council on a joint enforcement operation targeting waste carriers operating within the Medway area. The operation aimed to tackle environmental crime, ensure compliance with waste carrier legislation, and disrupt illegal waste disposal activities that can lead to fly-tipping and harm local communities.

During the operation, a number of vehicles involved in the transportation of waste were stopped and inspected. Drivers were required to produce valid waste carrier registration details and provide evidence regarding the origin and intended destination of the waste being carried. Checks were also conducted on vehicle condition, driving licenses and compliance with relevant environmental legislation.

The operation resulted in several waste carriers receiving advice and guidance regarding their legal responsibilities. The proactive partnership working between Kent Police and Medway Council demonstrated a commitment to protecting the environment, preventing unlawful waste activity, and reassuring local residents that action is being taken against those who fail to comply with waste disposal regulations.

This joint approach continues to support efforts to reduce fly-tipping, improve environmental standards, and hold offenders accountable through education, enforcement and ongoing compliance checks.
