Consultation on Proposed Renewal of Public Spaces Protection Orders (PSPOs)
Islington Council is seeking views on proposals to renew and vary its borough-wide Public Spaces Protection Orders (PSPOs) relating to dog control and alcohol-related anti-social behaviour. The current Orders expire on 31 October 2026 and, subject to consultation and formal approval, the Council is proposing to renew them until 31 October 2029.
The proposals include:
The alcohol-related PSPO does not prohibit responsible public drinking. It enables authorised officers to require a person to stop drinking or surrender alcohol where necessary to prevent public nuisance or disorder.
The consultation is open from 20 July 2026 until 31 August 2026 and we would welcome your views on the proposals. Full details of the consultation, including the draft Orders, supporting documents and online survey, are available at: www.letstalk.islington.gov.uk/public-space-protection-orders-pspo
