Courier Fraud Awareness – Advice from Your St Helier West Safer Neighbourhood Team Courier fraud continues to affect people across London, particularly older and more vulnerable residents. Fraudsters may pretend to be police officers or bank staff and convince you that your bank account is at risk. They may ask you to withdraw cash, purchase high-value items, or hand over your bank cards and PIN.

Remember:

● Police officers and your bank will never ask you to withdraw money or purchase items as part of an investigation.

● They will never ask you to reveal your PIN or collect your bank card from your home.

● Never hand over cash, bank cards or valuables to someone you do not know.

● If you receive a suspicious call, hang up and verify the caller by contacting your bank using the number on the back of your card or by calling 101 if they claimed to be the police.

If you think you or someone you know has been targeted by courier fraud, report it immediately by calling 101. If a crime is in progress or someone is at immediate risk, call 999.
