Recent incidents around shopping areas

There has been a recent spate of incidents during which people appear to be being targeted whilst using cash machines in both Upper and Lower Belvedere. These incidents have taken place at cash machines at Asda in Lower Road and also at the Co-Op and Sainsburys supermarkets in Nuxley Road. 

Persons using the cash machines have been approached by an Asian male wearing black surgical face mask, and once in conversation with the male have then been distracted and had their bank cards stolen, which are then used in other locations locally. At present, there appears to be a pattern of elderly persons being targeted.

Please remain vigilant when using cash machines and be aware of who / what is around you. Should anyone attempt to approach or distract you in the above manner, please call for Police assistance.
