Hello Beckton, I hope you are all keeping well. We are hoping to see a drop in numberplate thefts these coming months due to arrests generated by a member of public after they alerted police. Thank you to everyone who continues to report suspicious behaviour. Please read below the details along with the headlines of other street crimes in Beckton this week. Assault 17/07/2026 (Tesco): Security staff detained a man for shoplifting, and the suspect fought with the guard.17/07/2026 (Tesco): Security staff were pushed and had a bottle swung at them while detaining another shoplifter.18/07/2026 (Sainsbury’s): Security stopped a shoplifter who then threatened the guard with a bottle.16/07/2026 (The Shepherd's Inn, E6): A man was assaulted outside the venue. The motive for the attack is currently unclear. (Possibly football related)20/07/2026: Our very own PCSO Baluta (aka as Gabby) spotted and detained a suspect who was wanted for punching an ASDA security guard. The suspect attempted to flee, prompting a foot chase. During the struggle, the suspect attempted to headbutt Gabby but fortunately only struck his chest. Gabby safely brought the suspect to the ground and held him there until arresting officers arrived. Outstanding work! Vehicle Crime 20/07/2026 (Atlantis Avenue): A member of public alerted police to a suspicious vehicle. Police intercepted and discovered it was stolen and arrested two males. They were found in possession of numerous stolen number plates, car-theft equipment, balaclavas, and stolen items valued at £10,000. This was an excellent result.20/07/2026 (Savage Gardens): A blue disabled badge was stolen from a vehicle. Cultivation of Cannabis 21/07/2026 (Sheerwater Road): While this operation took place just over the border in Custom House, our team was responsible! The Beckton and Custom House Safer Neighbourhoods Teams executed a search warrant, discovering a cannabis grow alongside a literal bucketload of cannabis buds.That is everything for this week.
