Hello, and welcome to your round up from the St Matthew’s Neighbourhood Policing Team, part of Walsall’s Local Policing Area (LPA). Keeping the different communities in St Matthew’s informed of some of the activities that we have done recently.
As part of the Safer Towns Summer we continue to work hard with our partners to make the town centre and shopping spaces as safe and welcoming as possible, for everyone.
We continue to conduct visible reassurance patrols and enforcement activity in hotspot areas and this week we conducted a operation with the drugs dog and a number of stop searches were conducted and drugs seized.
A multi agency road safety operation was conducted and a number of vehicles were seized and drivers reported for driving offences.
A number of arrests have been made for different offences.
Weekly Crime Prevention While we enjoy the warm weather, let's not forget about keeping homes and vehicles safe. Criminals will take advantage of open windows and propped open doors, even if it’s the back door. Keep you, your home, and your vehicles safe this summer by following these useful tips: Make sure doors and windows are closed and locked. Even if you’re just popping out, lock up and secure your home. Consider installing window locks to prevent intruders from easily opening your windows. Consider installing a home security system with visible cameras and alarm systems to deter burglars. Keep your valuables out of sight. Close blinds or curtains to prevent prying eyes from scouting your belongings. Shutting the blinds will keep your house cooler. Do not leave car windows open and remove valuables from your car. Hosting family or friends in your garden - don’t invite burglars to the party. Keep your side entrance, back door, or garden gate closed/locked. Tidying the garage or dusting off the bikes for summer adventures? Lock up and keep that garage door closed. It takes seconds for thieves to spot and take expensive tools/bikes/motor vehicles. For extra security keep porch doors locked, wheelie bins away from low fences or garages, and sheds secure. You might not have thought about… If you have a pet, consider securing the cat flap at night or removing keys that can be reached via a cat flap. Removing keys from your doors, especially doors with glass panels, is very important. Most locks are snapped or windows broken to gain access - keep keys out of sight. Keep your calendar away from prying eyes. Burglars will use this to understand your routine and learn when your home will be empty over the holidays.
