Good evening Resident,
As the weather continues to not be able to make its mind up, we have continued patrolling the streets of Wolverhampton. Its been a busy week as the kids are out of school and the city centre seems to be the perfect meeting spot… this does unfortunately bring with it an increase in anti-social behaviour, but as always we will do our best to keep the city a safe and welcoming place to visit for all.
Lets get to it!
What’s Been Happening
Arrests – A total of seven arrests have been made this week for offences on the city centre, with some of these arrests being for multiple offences. The first arrest was for shop theft with a prolific female shoplifter being charged with a total of five offences. A male was arrested for burglary after being spotted outside a nightclub. After confirming a positive ID, officers quickly took him into custody before he was able to make off. Another male was arrested on Saturday for theft from stores, the male is currently in Hospital but as soon as he is discharged he will be going straight to court to face being charged with four thefts. City centre officers attended a burglary in progress on Sunday, where they assisted response officers in apprehending 2 males. Both were swiftly taken into custody. A female self-presented at Wolverhampton Police Station and was taken into custody for failing to appear at her appointed court date. Finally in the early hours of Monday morning, officers visited a property in the city centre and arrested a male for a theft of a pedal cycle at JD gyms.
Community Engagement – PCSO Shotton hosted a crime prevention stand at Wolverhampton Art Gallery this week, small turnout but good engagement with the public. Our multi-partnership ASB walks with Wolverhampton Council and DNO Langford continued this week, once again informing people of the PSPO in place in the city centre. Another Cuppa with a Copper held at Costa Coffee by PCSO Holmes was attended by a small crowd and gathered some valuable information. PCSO Wykes and PCSO Shotton were at Lloyds Bank were they had a chat with multiple members of the public with regards to fraud protection and bogus house callers. PCSO Wykes dealt with a very slippery customer this weekend, Sapphire and Doodle the rescue pythons were out with their owners who were quite happy to let members of the public handle their snakes and take pictures.
Guardian Patrols – Nothing extra in relation to our usual Guardian patrols with week. As always patrolling our most affected streets in the city centre with a focus on Dudley Street and the Bus Station.
Night-Time Economy – No NTE shifts for my team this week but as promised a little update on what happened last Saturday. We started off our Saturday night with a joint operation with City of Wolverhampton Council Parking Enforcement, focussing our attention on Broad Street. I believe a fair few parking tickets were handed out and plenty of advice give in relation to parking matters. Throughout the night multiple stop/searches were carried out due to the increased footfall because of the third place playoffs involving England.
