Sandwell Operation Advance

We’ll be tackling retail crime, targeting dangerous drivers and engaging with the public as Operation Advance returns to Sandwell today (29 Jul).

We will have extra police resources in place as part of intensified activity in the borough. On a rolling basis, Operation Advance visits each local policing area in the West Midlands and this month it’s Sandwell’s turn. 

Activity has already started, with officers heading out to arrest suspects wanted for a range of offences.

Later on in the day, we will be targeting organised and violent crime, road safety, anti-social behaviour and shop thefts.

Our existing Sandwell teams will be bolstered with specialist `officers and staff from other departments to further act on issues impacting residents and businesses. 

Chief Inspector Leanne Chapman, Sandwell Police said: “Operation Advance sees staff and officers from every police department locally and across the force working to together with partners to deliver 24 hours of intensive police operations.

“After months of planning, we will be using all of those resources as an opportunity to tackle issues in the borough that matter most to you. 

“If you see us out and about feel free to come and chat to us and tell us about any issues, while also finding out more about the work happening in your area.”

While today’s focus is on Sandwell, we will always make sure that we’re there to help wherever you are in the West Midlands.
