Due to recent incidents in Southfields, Northampton, we are heightening our focus on fire safety and arson prevention. Deliberately starting a fire is an incredibly dangerous act that can spiral out of control in seconds, threatening homes, wildlife and most importantly, human life.

As the Summer holidays begin, parents are being asked to speak to their children regarding the risks of starting fires. Setting fires deliberately can also have an impact on the Police and Fire services, taking crews away from helping members of the public that need them. If you notice your child smelling of smoke or talking about starting fires, please speak with them about the serious consequences. Explain that arson can lead to criminal records, heavy fines, or even imprisonment.

How You Can Help
We are asking all residents to be our eyes and ears. You can help protect your neighbourhood by:

Being Vigilant: Reporting any suspicious activity around empty buildings, communal bin areas, or vehicles.

Reducing Risk: Ensuring rubbish or combustible materials do not build up near your property.

Reporting Emergencies: If you see a fire in progress or suspicious behaviour happening now, call 999 immediately.
