Fire Safety Reminder

Good evening,

With the current hot, dry weather, it only take a small spark to start a fire.

Earlier today on Primrose Hill Road, PC DAVIES and I came across a small fire burning beneath a drain cover after dry leaves had ignited. While the cause isn't confirmed, discarded cigarettes and other smoking materials can easily ignite dry vegetation and leaf litter. Thankfully with the assistance of a member of public who provided us access to water, we were able to extinguish the fire before it grew and caused any damage.

Please be mindful if disposing of cigarettes - don't throw them on the ground or into drains, ensure they are thoroughly extinguished and dispose of them in the correct receptacles.

A few seconds of care can prevent a serious fire and help protect our parks, wildlife and local community.
