Here is your update from the St Michael's Neighbourhood Team 2

✅ Good News from Your Local Policing Team ✅

This week’s efforts saw 3 individuals gracing the Custody Suites at CHACE AVENUE POLICE STATION courtesy of St Michaels Team 2.

The arrests being a mixture of person/s arrested for Failing to Appear for Court (FTA), PWITS (possession with intent to supply) and being in Possession of an Offence Weapon. 

Officers had responded to a call of a male acting suspiciously in a car park, upon arrival a male was detained. A search of the male  found a quantity of class A drugs and a baseball bat. The male was subsequently arrested for possession of class A drugs and possession of an offensive weapon.

 We have continued with our Targeted Guardian Patrols in LADY HERBERTS GARDENS, FAR GOSFORD STREET,COVENTRY CITY CENTRE AND SPON END. These patrols are conducted by uniformed and non-uniformed officers. We are able to patrols local hot spots without being instantly recognised, actively looking to deter criminality and identify person/s looking to buy and sell drugs within communities. 

✅ Crime Prevention Tips:

The St Michaels Team has been conducting late-night patrols to disrupt potential opportunistic burglary offenders and deter crime. A number of investigation are ongoing in relation to previously reported burglaries. Although the team will continue their strategic patrols aimed to prevent and disrupt, there are some things you can also do to deter potential burglars with the warm weather we have been experiencing, we are seeing an increase in reports.

·  Close and lock all doors and windows when leaving your property and overnight.

·  Secure all outbuildings.

·  Property, door and window alarms are an effective deterrent.

·  Physical security measures like extra locks, chain locks, sash locks etc.

·  Cameras and CCTV. These are not just a deterrent, they also provide us with a line of enquiry in identifying offenders should something happen to your property.

·  Do not leave valuables in sight when leaving the property and overnight. Close curtains and blinds as opportunistic thieves and burglars may choose to take advantage.

Please be mindful when locking your car and take steps to keep your vehicle secure. We recommend the following: 

Don't Leave Valuables on Show 

It might sound obvious but leaving items on show is an invitation to the opportunist criminal - mobile phones, satnavs and mounts, power leads, money, wallets, handbags, sunglasses, coats, jackets and bags should always be removed from the vehicle or hidden well out of sight 

Hide Keys & Fobs 

Keys and ignition fobs should be kept safe and out of sight and reach. A common way to steal a car is to take the keys or ignition fob, so never leave them in the vehicle, even if it is unattended for a moment. When at home ensure that your keys or ignition fob are kept well away from windows or doors so that they cannot be seen by a potential thief and never leave them close to the front door where they can be accessed through letterboxes. Put the keys in a signal-blocking pouch, such as a Faraday bag. 

Lock Doors & Close Windows! 

Always lock and close the windows of your vehicle when you leave it unattended - be this on the drive, the petrol station forecourt, when de-icing your vehicle in the winter or when getting a ticket to park. An unlocked vehicle is the easiest to steal or steal from.
