Community Update - Westcliff & Riddings

Dear Resident,

We are aware of the concern within the community following a recent incident in the Keelby road area of Riddings, Scunthorpe where criminal damage was caused to a residential property and a resident sustained injuries. 

We are also aware that footage relating to this incident is circulating on social media.

As part of our investigation, three youths have been arrested and released on bail while enquiries continue. Neighbourhood officers will continue to carryout patrols in the area and work with partner agencies to help prevent further incidents. 

We understand this incident has caused concern within the community. We would ask residents not to speculate online or share unverified information, as this can have an impact on those involved and the ongoing investigation.

This incident demonstrates how behaviour that may begin as anti social behaviour can quickly escalate into serious criminal offending, with significant consequences for victims, their families and those responsible.

We would also encourage parents and carers to take the opportunity to speak with their children about their behaviour, where they are spending their time, who they are with, and the consequences of criminal damage, harassment and violence. The overwhelming majority of young people in Westcliff and Riddings are respectful and responsible members of our community, but it only takes a small number of young people making poor decisions for serious incidents to occur.
