Here’s an update on our work to tackle knife crime in your area. We’re committed to making our neighbourhood safer for everyone. Dear Springfield Ward Residents/Metengage Members:
Just bring to your attention MET Police is supporting FazAmnestry annual Summer Surrender Scheme to reduce the number of knives in circulation by providing opportunities for members of the public to safely and anonymously dispose of unwanted knives and bladed articles.
🚐 FazAmnesty Knife Amnesty Van
The purpose of the van is to provide a safe and anonymous route for knife disposal. Officers are asked to be aware of the locations and dates so they can support messaging where appropriate and signpost members of the public who may wish to surrender a knife.
The MET Police Knife Amnesty Van will be attending the following locations this week:
THURS, 06AUG (Islington):
1000-1330: Finsbury Park - 22 Sonderburg Rd, Finsbury Park, London N7 7QD
1400-1800: Sussex Way, Courtauld Road N19 4BH
FRI, 07AUG (Westminster):
1000-1800: Fingest House, 1 Bernhardt Crescent, London NW8 8AQ
⚠️ IMPORTANT
The success of the scheme relies on members of the public feeling comfortable surrendering knives without police involvement or attention.
The scheme is designed to be community-focused, discreet and non-judgemental. Please note police role is to support and promote the initiative instead of becoming part of the surrender process.
In addition to the mobile van, members of the public can use permanent Word 4 Weapons knife surrender bins located throughout the country. To find a local bin location, visit:

The number of murders in London has dropped to its lowest in more than a decade, and we have driven crime enabled by a knife down by 17% in a year. The rate of violence in London is lower than many other big cities, both in the UK and across the US and major European cities like Paris, Berlin and Barcelona. But the impact of senseless violence on families is devastating and certain communities are disproportionately affected. We’re not complacent and are determined to reduce it even further. We are stepping up our use of data and technology in this space, cutting off access to weapons, improving our investigations and working with communities and partners on targeted operations to help keep people safe.
