Suspected stolen quad bikes recovered during North Herts Police operation

Five suspected stolen quad bikes were recovered and arrests made on Wednesday (29 July) following a warrant in connection to agricultural thefts in North Herts.

Officers from North Herts Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT), along with the Rural Operational Support Team (ROST) and colleagues from Bedfordshire Police Rural Crime Action Team (RCAT) and Community teams, conducted the warrant on St Thomas Road, Luton.

The warrant was in response to reports from the North Herts rural community concerning thefts of vehicles between the end of April and the end of May this year.

Five quad bikes were seized, along with a Surron bike, a moped and trailer - all were suspected to have been stolen, used in crime, or being used anti-socially.

Two teenagers were arrested in connection to the investigation which remains ongoing.

PC Craig Breen, of the North Herts NPT, said: “The seizure of these quad bikes is a positive result and demonstrates our commitment to tackling the criminality that has a significant impact on rural communities.

“Theft of agricultural vehicles can cause considerable disruption and financial hardship, and we will continue working with partners and local residents to identify offenders, recover stolen property and keep our rural areas safe.”

Sergeant Alex Winning from ROST, added: “This operation highlights our ongoing dedication to supporting our rural communities in the county.
