Community Safety Message - Reports of Ball Bearings Landing in Gardens

Dear Residents, 

We have recently received reports of ball bearings landing in residential gardens within the local area, possibly from using a catapult or BB gun. We understand that incidents such as these can be concerning for residents and can cause damage to property, distress, or potentially injury.

We would ask residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour, particularly groups or individuals seen carrying catapults, BB guns, or other similar items. If it is safe to do so, please make a note of descriptions, locations, times, and any direction of travel, as this information can assist police enquiries.

To help protect yourself and your property, please consider: 

• Reporting any incidents of damage or suspicious activity to police. 

• Retaining any ball bearings or other items found, where safe to do so, as they may assist investigations. 

• Checking any CCTV, video doorbells, or dashcam footage which may have captured those responsible. 

• Speaking with neighbours who may have witnessed incidents or have relevant footage.

If you witness an incident taking place or believe there is an immediate risk to someone's safety, please call 999. For non-emergency reports, please contact police on 101 or report online via the Metropolitan Police website.

We are keen to understand the extent of these incidents and would encourage anyone who has experienced a similar occurrence, even if no damage was caused, to report it to us.
