Here’s an update on burglary locally. Community Safety Appeal – Attempted Residential Burglary, Browning Avenue, Hanwell W7
We are appealing for information following an attempted residential burglary on Browning Avenue, Hanwell, W7.
At approximately 04:29hrs on Sunday 2 August 2026, two males were seen attempting to force entry through the rear door of a property using a crowbar. Fortunately, they were unsuccessful and no entry was gained.
We are keen to hear from anyone who may have:
• Witnessed any suspicious activity in the area around the time of the incident.
• CCTV, doorbell, dashcam, or other footage that may have captured the suspects before, during, or after the offence.
• Any information that could assist the investigation.

While any burglary is one too many, we would also like to reassure residents that this is the only residential burglary reported in the last seven days across the ward. In addition, there has been just one residential burglary reported during August 2026 so far, compared to four residential burglaries recorded during July 2026.

Burglary Prevention Advice
Following the recent attempted burglary, we would like to remind residents of some simple steps that can help make your home less attractive to burglars:
Always ensure all doors and windows are locked, even when you are at home.
Consider fitting anti-snap locks, sash jammers, or other additional security measures to vulnerable doors and windows.
Keep valuables, vehicle keys, and spare keys out of sight and away from doors and windows.
Use motion-activated security lighting where possible.
Ensure side gates and rear access points are secure.
Consider installing a doorbell camera or CCTV system to deter offenders and assist investigations.
Set timers on lights when away from home to give the impression the property is occupied.
Report any suspicious individuals or vehicles immediately by calling 999 if a crime is in progress or 101 for non-emergencies.
Neighbourhood vigilance remains one of the most effective ways of preventing burglary. Please look out for your neighbours and report anything that appears unusual or out of place.
