Monthly Round Up for the Month of July from Sgt 0833 Mark Collins

Hello Resident, 

I hope this message finds you well. As we move into August, I wanted to share a quick round-up of what’s been happening across our local area in the last month, what’s coming up, and how we’re working together to keep our community safe and thriving. 

🔍 Local Priorities 

Our updated current focus areas include: 

Walsall Arboretum due to the rise in visitors attending within the Summer Months. 

Caldmore Green/Road and surrounding area due to reports of Anti Social Behaviour and Parking concerns. 

Speeding vehicles in Walsall Town Centre during daytime, evening and late evening time hours. 

We’re continuing patrols and targeted operations in these areas, and welcome any feedback or concerns you’d like to raise. 

🤝 Partnership Working 

We’ve been working closely with: 

Green Square Accord Housing, whereby the team have attended various properties across the Neighbourhood along with housing officers offering support and advice to the community and tackle tenancy-related concerns. 

The classic car and family fun day that was held at the Arboretum on 19th July, Officers attended and liaised with security personnel and organisers of the well turned out event, which ran very smoothly and enjoyed by all that attended. 

These collaborations are helping us respond more effectively and holistically to community needs. 

🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Community Involvement 

Thank you to everyone who’s taken part in: 

Streetwatch Patrols that were conducted on Rushall Manor estate and surrounding area, actively keeping the neighbourhood safe and offering reassurance to local residents. 

Speedwatch on Mellish Road which was organised by Rushall Hall Speedwatch volunteers, and warning letters have been distributed to relevant drivers that were highlighted to be driving over the speed limit of that Road. 

Speedwatch patrols were also conducted in Highgate, with the help of the Highgate Speedwatch group, again warning letters have been distributed to the relevant drivers involved.

🗞️ Round-Up from All Wards 

Here’s a snapshot of key updates across our patch: 

Summer Safer Town Team have been working in the Town Centre where they been conducting High Visibility Patrols and proactive stop and searches whereby drugs have been seized and various arrests have been made. 

An engagement was conducted at the Refugee and Migrant Centre, Bridge Street, Walsall, Speaking with families that are new to the country and the local area, discussed community safety, personal safety, local policing, and how to get help if they ever need it. 

The West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner visited Walsall town centre and has announced that rebuilding community policing is his top priority and more officers will be introduced to local neighbourhood policing. 

Officers conducted visible reassurance patrols and enforcement activity in hotspot areas and conducted an operation with the West Midlands Police drugs dog and a number of stop searches were conducted and drugs seized. 

A multi agency road safety operation was conducted whereby 20 vehicles were given tickets for various offences, which range from no insurance to illegal window tints. 

Regular high visibility patrols have been conducted at Walsall Arboretum, due to the high footfall of visitors using the facilities in the Summer months. 

An E bike operation was led by Officers in Walsall Town, which saw x3 E Scooters and x1 E Bike seized, making the Town Centre a safer place to shop, work and visit. 

A PACT (Partners and Communities together) meeting was held on 21st July at Bethal Lighthouse Community Centre, Walsall. This is a regular public meeting where local residents, Neighbourhood Officers and Council representatives gather to discuss and tackle community level issues.
