Dear residents of City West Division,
This is to update you on work myself and team have completed in the last week.
Last Saturday was our team's first late shift. We supported our colleagues on response team by attending numerous grade 1 calls. These included a report of youths breaking into Ambleside Primary School, in Minver Crescent. When we attended a group of teenagers ran from us but were quickly stopped and detained. However, it quickly emerged no damage had been caused and the group had simply been hanging around the school. The group were returned home to parents and given words of advice.
Straight from this job, PCs Thomas and Hasan attended a report of a group of men in a car inhaling nitrous oxide balloons in Harvey Road. When they arrived, they found three adult men with numerous empty and full cannisters of nitrous oxide. All three were arrested on suspicion with intent to supply a controlled drug. We finished our shift two-and-a-half-hours late at 2.30am after booking in the various item of property. The next day we then interviewed the three men arrested the night before. These have now been bailed pending further enquiries.
On Sunday I attended a report of a man targeting a vulnerable woman in Withern Road. This involved him selling her numerous pot plants. Fortunately, the man was disturbed by the woman's adult daughter. He quickly left but discarded a holdall. Enquiries are ongoing to try and identify the man.
Today while on patrol in Eltham Drive I've spoken to a contractor clearing an abandoned property which had previously been a location for repeated anti-social behaviour. The property will now be cleared before being restored and then let. I also took the opportunity to speak to residents who said the anti-social behaviour has significantly reduced from earlier in the year.
Later this month, we will hold two community ‘beat surgeries’ at Asda, Strelley Road. We will be there on the 17th from 10am and again on the 27th from about 10am. This is an opportunity for members of the pubic to speak to officers on the team.
