Drug dealer apprehended following intel around cuckooing and Drug dealing

Dear Residents,

On Tuesday 04/08, Officers from Ealing Common and Hanger Hill SNT joined forced in plain clothes to target an address. Intel had been received that a resident of a HMO (house of multiple occupancy) had been cuckooed and Crack Cocaine and Heroin were being dealt by runners from the address.

Cuckooing is a process where a Criminal Gang will target vulnerable residents and take over their properties for a purposes of dealing and preparing drugs. 

Sergeant Love, PC Stack, PC Hussain & PC Humphreys, started patrolling around the area and noticed a local nominal arrive and scale a small fence, before disappearing into the HMO. They emerged around 10 minutes later and tried to ride off on their pedal cycle. They were detained by Sergeant Love and Pc Humphreys for a Section 23 Misuse of Drugs Act search.

During the search, a large clingfilm ball was located. Upon examination this contained 18 wraps of Crack Cocaine and 9 Wraps of Heroin with a street value of £270. The Suspect was arrested and interviewed. Through consultation with CPS he received 2 charges for Possession with intent to supply Crack Cocaine and Possession with intent to supply Heroin. He was remanded to court due to his prolific offending history.

The focus then turned to the victim of Cuckooing. The team managed to gain their trust and they have now been relocated in emergency housing away from London and are engaging with support services. Enquiries continue into other members of the Crime Gang.

Please continue to be vigilant, if you have vulnerable neighbours - look for signs of people coming and going, a change in their general mood and behaviour that suggests they are being exploited. This can be reported direct to the Met or online anonymously through Crimestoppers.
