In recent weeks we have had many reports regarding nuisance E-scooters. If you are a parent of someone who owns an E-scooter, please take note of the following:

🚨 Thinking of buying or using an E-Scooter? Know the Law First 🚨

E-scooters are becoming increasingly popular, but many people are unaware that privately owned e-scooters cannot legally be used on public roads, pavements, cycle paths, or in public spaces within Warwickshire and across the UK.

✅ Where can privately owned e-scooters be used? Only on private land, and only with the landowner's permission.

❌ Where can't they be used? • Public roads
• Pavements and footpaths
• Cycle lanes and cycle tracks
• Parks and other public spaces

If you ride a privately owned e-scooter in a public place, you could face: • A fixed penalty notice
• Points on your driving licence
• Seizure of the e-scooter
• Potential prosecution for offences such as driving without insurance

⚠️ E-scooters can also pose a significant risk to pedestrians, particularly vulnerable road users, when ridden on pavements or in busy public areas.

Before buying or using an e-scooter, make sure you understand the current legislation and ride responsibly.
