Theft from Motor Vehicle - Sullivan Way - Elstree

Dear Resident

Between 03/08/2026 - 05/08/2026 there have been multiple theft from motor vehicle offences in your area.

41/74878/26 - Sullivan Way - 05/08/2026 14:00 to 06/08/2026 11:00

Victim reporting theft number of plates. Back plate is gone and front is damaged/smashed. Index FT67DGY, Toyota Aygo , white. Car was parked on the road outside the property. no CCTV , no marks to tool left.

41/74991/26 - Schubert Road - 05/08/2026 - 15:00-17:00

Victim was notified by a neighbour that both of their index plates have been removed front and back. They have gone out to find a small piece of the plate on the ground by their vehicle.

There is no damage to the vehicle.

Neighbours may have CCTV but victim has not enquired with them yet.

Nothing seen or heard overnight.

Tips to prevent vehicle crime:

Ensure you lock doors and shut windows/sunroof when leaving your vehicle unattended.

Always remove keys from the ignition when you are not with the vehicle

When parking, remember to set your immobiliser or alarm or use an approved steering lock or gear lever clamp.

Never leave valuables in your vehicle – not even in the glove box or boot – and keep all possessions out of sight – even coats, sunglasses and carrier bags.

Remove your satnav and holder and wipe away suction marks which could indicate that a satnav is stored in your vehicle.

Be aware of your keys. Don’t leave them lying around, visible or in pockets in changing rooms where they could be taken. Don’t leave them visible on a windowsill or near to your front door, where they could be “hooked” through the letterbox.

If you have a keyless entry car use a signal blocking bag and consider using additional trackers and steering wheel locks.

Store car ownership documents at home, not in your car.

Secure number plates with anti-theft screws.
