Partnership Community Engagement and Reassurance Patrol- Valley Ward (Mount Area, E4)

Dear Valley Ward Members,

Working in partnership with Valley Safer Neighbourhood Team Officers 7174NE and 7111NE, North Cluster Inspector Mason and Valley Ward Councillors Akram and Hemsted, a community engagement meeting was held followed by high-visibility foot and static patrols in and around the Mount area, E4. 

Discussions focused on local ward priorities, including anti-social behaviour (ASB), parking concerns/speeding, local businesses, environmental issues, and other matters impacting residents and visitors to the area.

The partnership patrol provided a strong and visible presence within the heart of Valley Ward, particularly around Albert Crescent, E4, offering reassurance to residents, shoppers, and local businesses. The joint approach demonstrated a commitment from police and partners to listen to community concerns, understand local issues, and work together to improve the quality of life for those living and working in the area.

Throughout the patrol, officers and partners engaged with numerous members of the public, residents, and business owners. Many welcomed the opportunity to speak directly with local officers and councillors, raising concerns, sharing views, and discussing issues affecting the community. Several contacts were made and details exchanged to ensure updates can be provided regarding matters raised.

The community response was overwhelmingly positive. Residents expressed appreciation for the visible presence and engagement, with one resident stating:

"It's reassuring to see officers and councillors out together, speaking with residents and seeing what's happening in the area for themselves."

Another resident commented:

"Seeing officers on foot rather than just in vehicles makes a real difference. It makes us feel safer and more confident that local issues are being addressed."

A local shop owner said:

"This kind of engagement is exactly what our area needs. Customers and businesses feel reassured when they see officers regularly patrolling and taking the time to listen."

Residents also highlighted that regular engagement strengthens community confidence and encourages people to report issues, knowing that their concerns are being heard and acted upon.

The foot and static patrols were well received by the community as a whole and contributed significantly to feelings of safety, reassurance, and trust in local policing and partner agencies. The activity strengthened relationships between the police, ward councillors, local businesses, and residents, reinforcing a shared commitment to keeping Valley Ward a safe, welcoming, and thriving place to live, work, and visit. 

The engagement also provided valuable opportunities to gather community intelligence, identify local concerns, and demonstrate that neighbourhood policing remains visible, accessible, and responsive to the needs of the community.
