🚗 Vehicle Crime Prevention Advice: Protect Your Vehicle from Keyless Theft 🔐 Following recent reports of vehicle thefts in the area, we'd like to remind residents of some simple steps that can help keep your vehicle safe and reduce the risk of becoming a target for thieves. Many modern vehicles use keyless entry and ignition systems. While convenient, these systems can be exploited by criminals using technology to capture or relay signals from key fobs. ✅ Help protect your vehicle by following these simple tips: 🔑 Keep your vehicle keys well away from doors, windows, and letterboxes. 📶 Store keyless entry fobs in a signal-blocking pouch (Faraday pouch) or protective container. 🛡️ Activate any additional security features provided by the manufacturer, such as immobilisers or key deactivation settings. 🏠 Park in a locked garage whenever possible. If a garage isn't available, choose a well-lit and overlooked location. 🚘 Use visible security devices such as steering wheel locks. These can be an effective deterrent to offenders. 🔒 Always ensure your vehicle is locked and alarmed, even when parked on your driveway. 👀 Stay alert and report any suspicious people or vehicles in your neighbourhood, particularly during the evening and overnight hours. 📹 Check that CCTV, Ring doorbells, and other security cameras are working correctly and covering key areas around your property. 📞 See something suspicious? Report it. If you witness suspicious activity around vehicles, please report it to Staffordshire Police. 🚨 If a crime is in progress or there is an immediate threat, call 999. 📱 For non-emergency reports or information, contact us via 101 or through the Staffordshire Police website. 🤝 Together, by taking a few simple precautions, we can make it harder for criminals to operate and help keep our communities safe. Thank you for your continued support. 💙👮♂️🚔 | ||
