Staffordshire Police would like to make residents aware of reports of cold callers operating in the Haughton area.

👷‍♂️ The individuals are reported to have been approaching properties offering to jet wash driveways and carry out exterior cleaning work. They have been described as having Irish accents and are alleged to have charged significantly inflated amounts of money for work carried out.

⚠️ These individuals may specifically target elderly and vulnerable residents, using high-pressure sales tactics and often being persistent when homeowners decline their services.

✅ Do not feel pressured into agreeing to work at your door.

✅ Never hand over cash or make immediate payments for unsolicited services.

✅ Ask for identification and details of the company they represent.

✅ Obtain quotes from reputable local businesses before agreeing to any work.

✅ Speak to a family member, friend, or trusted neighbour before making a decision.

✅ Keep your front door secured while speaking to callers and use a door chain if you have one.
