🌊WATER SAFETY - PLEASE STAY SAFE |
||
|
With the recent hot weather, we're seeing more young people gathering around Cosmeston Lakes, Penarth Pier, Barry Docks and Barry Island. We're also receiving an increasing number of reports regarding concerns about people jumping into unsafe areas of water.
We understand the temptation to cool off, but open water can be unpredictable and extremely dangerous, with hidden hazards, strong currents, sudden drops and the risk of cold-water shock, even on a hot day.
🚫 Please do not jump into the water from piers, docks, rocks or other unsafe locations.
Parents and carers, please speak to young people about the risks and help them make safe choices around water.
If someone gets into difficulty in the water, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard. Do not put yourself at risk by attempting a rescue.
Please share this message and help us keep our communities safe.
Stay safe and enjoy the sunshine responsibly. 🌞🌊 | ||
