Drone flights in Chipping |
||
|
Dear Resident, We would like to make you aware that Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service will be carrying out drone testing and training activity at Chipping Airfield over the months. The flights form part of a national project to develop new ways of supporting firefighters during wildfires and other large incidents. The drones being tested are larger than those most people are used to seeing and may be visible from surrounding areas. Flying will take place on weekdays between 9am and 5pm when glider activity is not taking place. All operations are planned, supervised and contained within the airfield boundary. The project will help us explore how drones can be used to transport equipment to firefighters working in remote locations, support incident response and develop new operational tactics for dealing with wildfires. We appreciate that residents may have questions when they see drone activity in the area. Please be assured that all flights are being carried out safely, in accordance with the relevant regulations and in coordination with the airfield. Thank you for your understanding and support as we undertake this important work to help improve emergency response capabilities. If you would like any further information, please contact Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service on 01772 862545 or email enquiries@lancsfirerescue.org.uk. Kind regards, Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service
