Good afternoon residents, The British summer is well underway, with heatwaves being felt throughout the country. Many are using this time to top up their sun tan and are making the most of the sunshine; we saw Winterton Town Council host a successful Family Funday, members of the local community continue work on the beautiful murals you may have seen (Such as by the North Lincs community hub building) and on our rounds, we have seen a myriad of happy faces enjoying themselves. During this time, your local policing team have conducted high-visibility patrols on foot around the town, focussing on engaging with young people in hotspot areas, such as West Street Park. It's important for users of the park to remember the importance of keeping it safe and useable; recent damages to trees and apparatus has raised concerns about the use of the park, so if you do notice any damage, or see someone causing damage, make sure to let us know by the usual channels, as well as your local council. General anti-social behaviour (ASB) amongst young people has not been a concern, as the general population of young people in Winterton enjoying themselves without issue. The exception of a particular group of young people has been identified, however we are happy to say that these have all been engaged with and positive outcomes have come from this, with more support to follow. We are continuing to ramp up activity in regards to tackling illegal and dangerous motorcycles in the area. We want to thank those who have recently used our new Winterton email to report sightings and images of these bikes. This has led to more targeted activity, not just in the Winterton area. More disruption to their activities is expected to continue, with a focus on removing the bikes from their homes. Officers will also be taking heavily into rural areas to disrupt and deal with anti-social off-road motorcycles that are being used without permission of private land and causing damages to bridleways. We do, however, appreciate that many riders are seeking legal and proper use of their bikes; this is something we want to address and assist with. Moving on from the bikes, it's important to stress the impact that E-scooters are having on road safety; Humberside Police are seeing an increase in road traffic collisions and incidents involving E-scooters, both on roads and on pavements. These E-scooters are illegal for use in public spaces, including roads and footpaths. Whilst a level of tolerance has been given, in the form of education and allowing owners the chance to promote proper use, the problem has now grown into something that needs taking care of now. Any E-scooters seen used on public roads or pavements will be recorded by police and seized; these can not be retrieved from the impounding recovery company without insurance, which cannot be obtained within the UK. Use this time to educated friends and family on E-scooter use, to protect them and others who are using public spaces. Finally, we will be attending and hosting multiple upcoming events, including a community event on Friday the 4th of September, where we will be holding a Bike Registering stand, alongside the help of North Lincs BikeHub who will be there to assist with repairs and bike safety.
