Things have been relatively calm in Beckton this week.

Please read on for the headlines and highlights of what has happened on our streets this week.

Road Rage / Assault

06/08/2026 (Gallions Reach): A verbal dispute at a roundabout escalated into an altercation involving pushing and hitting.

08/08/2026 (Gallions Reach): An argument over a petrol pump resulted in pushing.

11/08/2026 (Roding Road) A man and women who were unknown to each other argued over God. (The women began claiming she was God). This upset the man who then, threw, kicked and pulled on the women’s hair. Several local heroes stepped in to help her. The women did not wish to pursue a criminal prosecution.

Vehicle Crime

08/08/2026 (Pepper Close): An individual forced entry into a vehicle and disturbed the items inside, though nothing was reported missing.

09/08/2026 (Premier Inn): A Ford Transit van was broken into, with a drainage kit and a laptop stolen from inside.

Theft

06/08/2026 (Tollgate Road): A delivery parcel was stolen from a communal area inside a residential building.

12/08/2026 (Beckton ASDA) Two people were victims of a distraction theft at the ASDA cash machines. We had coincidentally stopped the suspect just after the event and had him in handcuffs with the stolen cash when we were approached by the victims explaining that he had just stolen from them. We hope to link this gentleman to many other recent thefts. He is in court this morning and we are optimistic that he will be in prison by dinner time.

In Other News

in Custom House, police officers spotted two motorbikes involved in an attempted phone snatch on Prince Regent Lane. Following a pursuit on the roads, the riders abandoned their bikes on Forty Acre Lane. Two young men, aged 13 and 18, were found hiding in Killip Close. They were successfully arrested and in possession of a stolen phone and a knife.

Hopefully the apprehension of two phone thieves and the person committing cash machine distraction thefts will keep the streets a little safer for us all for the foreseeable.
