Appeal for Information - Residential Burglary

Dear Wandsworth Common resident,

Police are appealing for information following a burglary that occurred on Thursday 13 August 2026 at approximately 01:45 hours on Tranmere Road at the junction with Waynflete Street SW18.

The resident was away on holiday at the time of the incident and upon returning home, discovered that unknown suspect(s) had gained entry to the property by forcing a first-floor window.

Officers are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen anything suspicious, including persons acting suspiciously, vehicles parked unusually, or anyone carrying property in the vicinity. Residents and businesses are also asked to check any CCTV, doorbell cameras or dashcam footage that may assist with enquiries.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police quoting CAD 1721 of 13/08/26.

Crime Prevention Advice

Burglars will often target properties they believe are unoccupied. Residents can help reduce the risk of burglary by:

Ensuring all doors and windows are securely locked before leaving the property, even for short periods.

Using timer switches on lights to give the appearance that someone is at home.

Asking a trusted neighbour, friend or family member to keep an eye on the property while away.

Avoiding posting holiday plans or real-time travel updates on social media.

Installing and maintaining burglar alarms, CCTV, video doorbells and external security lighting.

Keeping valuables out of sight and marking property with forensic or security marking products where appropriate.

Considering the installation of window locks and additional security measures for vulnerable access points.
