Dear Certificate Holders,
To those who have recently signed up, welcome to our Firearms Licensing Watch on the Neighbourhood Matters portal. This platform has been created to provide you with relevant updates on Firearms Licensing and other matters that may affect you as certificate holders.
Over the past eighteen months, the department has undergone a number of changes, with a focus on increasing engagement and improving service provision. This has included strengthened engagement with shooting groups, clubs, registered firearms dealers, and national organisations such as the British Association of Shooting and Conservation (BASC).
An Independent Advisory Group has also been established to support accountability and transparency in decision-making, as well as to provide a forum for discussion and constructive challenge. Membership of this group includes representatives from shooting/rifle clubs, mental health charities, registered firearms dealers, health services, BASC, Welsh Government, community groups and national firearms licensing leads.
In addition, we have revised our processes and operating procedures to improve efficiency and responsiveness to queries and requests for support.
We remain committed to building on this progress, further enhancing engagement, and continuing to improve the service we provide.
If you have any queries or suggestions, please feed these through your local shooting clubs or representatives, or contact us directly at our email address detailed below. (This portal is not monitored but we will respond to any queries to our email address firearmslicensing@gwent.police.uk)
Thank you,
Gwent Police Firearms Licensing Department. | ||
