Work going on to support West Midlands Fire Service

We wanted to get in touch to give you an update on the work going on to support West Midlands Fire Service and our partners in dealing with the devastating fires that we have seen across the West Midlands in recent days. 
 

We understand how upsetting and disruptive this has been for the local community and will continue to do all we can to support the operation and those affected. 
 

We have officers supporting our fire colleagues in Stourbridge with road closures and are continuing to support the community.  

Several cordons remain in place in Stourbridge and together with WMFS we are asking the public to stay away from the area.  We would ask if you have been evacuated, please do not attempt to return to your property unless you’ve been told it’s safe to do so. 

There has been reports of drones flying over parts of Stourbridge. We are urging people to keep the airspace around Stourbridge free so that emergency service drones can be used to assess the area.  

Fire crews are continuing to monitor and damp down hotspots across the affected areas, with exclusion zones still in place around Quarry Park and Brunswick Gate. 

Assistant Chief Constable Rich North from West Midlands Police, said: “Our thoughts are with the local community and all those affected at this time. 

“At this stage, we are supporting our fire colleagues and would ask the public not to speculate on how these fires started. 

“We are continuing to work with WMFS and partners to support where we’re needed. We want to thank everyone for their continued support and patience.”
