Trentham and Hanford - theft from Narrow Boat, e-bike ASB, crime prevention visits, patrols, event updates and Police Street Surgeries

Good afternoon everyone, 

Hope you all have had a great week. 

Its been a very busy but productive few days for myself. 

Firstly, a warm welcome to everyone who has joined Staffordshire Smart Alerts over the last couple of days. 

Towards the bottom of this e-mail I have put the dates, times and locations for the upcoming Police Street Surgeries. 

This week I’ve concentrated on promoting as much crime prevention advice as possible through ‘We Knocked To Check You Locked’ and I’ve really enjoyed speaking with residents on the doorstep, both about crime prevention and other local issues. Thank you for to everyone for taking the time to speak to me – I really appreciated it. 

Yesterday (14/08/26) myself and a colleague attended all addresses in both Ash Green Cl and Cherry Tree Cl as part of the randomly selected crime prevention visits.

This week I’ve also completed crime prevention visits in Ivy Grove, Bankhouse Rd, A34/Stone Rd, New Inn Lane, Pacific Rd, Constance Ave, Huron Gr, Ontario Cl and Danebower Rd. 

On 13/08/26 I attended Lyme valley to assist with a high-risk missing person. The person was thankfully located safe and well, but during the search I came across this vehicle, left unoccupied with the door fully open.

The owner was located and returned back to the vehicle to lock it – phew! 

Staffordshire Smart Alert Appeals 

We have received a report that between 1st and 4th August 2026, the front and rear fenders from a narrow boat were stolen. There was also a hose pipe stolen from the boat, which was moored in close proximity to Girsby Cl.

Anti-social behaviour (ASB) - E-bikes 

We have received reports of a group of persons using E-bikes in an anti-social manner in the area. They have been seen in the vicinity of Pacific Rd both yesterday (14/08/26) at approx 15:15 and on 13/08/26 at approx 20:20. 

If anyone has any CCTV, Dash Cam, Ring doorbell footage that may help my enquiries, if you can reply to this message and I will be in touch -  thank you.  

Hanford Park update     

In recent weeks there have been some reports of Anti-social behaviour in Hanford Park. I have dealt with several issues, which I hope have now been fully resolved. I completed a patrol of the park last night (14/08/26) at approx 19:55. Happy to report that I came across no issues during this patrol, which will continue to be completed as frequently as possible. 

Neighbourhood Watch update 

I am very happy to report that the new Neighbourhood Watch zone that I applied for has been approved. The new zone is called…

A34/Stone Road

My supervisors have asked myself to send out the following information…

Following a recent increase in reports of car meets, car cruising and street racing in the #Stone, #Tittensor and #Trentham areas, Stafford Borough Police would like to remind those attending, organising or participating -(including spectating) in these events that these locations fall within an area covered by a Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO).

The PSPO provides officers with a range of powers to tackle anti-social behaviour, including the seizure of items used in the commission of ASB, which can include motor vehicles.
 

 If your vehicle is seen within a designated PSPO area during anti-social vehicle activity, enforcement action may be taken.

 

 Section 59 Powers Have Changed  - The law has changed and police now have stronger powers to tackle the anti-social use of vehicles, including car cruising, street racing, off-road bikes, quad bikes and e-scooters.

Previously, officers would generally issue a Section 59 warning before a vehicle could be seized. Under the new legislation, that requirement has been removed, meaning officers can now seize a vehicle immediately where the legal grounds are met.

If a vehicle is being driven carelessly or inconsiderately, and is causing, or is likely to cause, alarm, distress or annoyance to members of the public, enforcement action can be taken.

Those attending or participating in car meets, street racing or other anti-social vehicle gatherings should be aware that Staffordshire Police will continue to use all available powers to protect our communities and keep our roads safe.

 

 Any vehicle registrations reported to us, identified through patrol activity, CCTV, dashcam footage or witnessed as being involved in anti-social vehicle use may result in the registered keeper or driver being issued with a Community Protection Warning (CPW).

A CPW places restrictions on future behaviour and outlines the consequences of continued offending. Failure to comply may result in further enforcement action, including the issuance of a Community Protection Notice (CPN). Breaching a CPN can result in prosecution and a fine of up to £2,500.

Think about the impact your actions have on residents
Don't risk losing your vehicle

 

 If you witness anti-social vehicle use, street racing, dangerous driving or car cruising activity, please report it to us. Call 101 for non-emergencies or 999 if a crime is in progress or there is an immediate risk to public safety. Where it is safe to do so, please provide vehicle registration numbers and descriptions, or any other relevant information to assist our enquiries.

Events 

Today (15/08/26) a coffee morning to help raise money for breast cancer research took place at the Trentham Community Library. 

Well done to the Trentham Central Residents Association for organising a brilliant event, which raised a fantastic £187.12p

There will be further coffee mornings taking place, including one in October, which will help raise funds for prostate cancer.

The dates are…19th September, 17th October, 21st November and 19th December.
