I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Anti Social Behaviour, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey. Several arrests have been conducted in Stevenage Town Centre this week as a result of proactive work from our officers. From knives off the street to arrests to vehicle crime (lots of it), I would like to share the following work below.
A male has been charged with two counts of theft.
Diri Dagogo, aged 42 of Forrest Road, London was arrested by Police on Monday 23 March 2026 after being caught stealing Magic the Gathering Cards at Geek Retreat, Stevenage worth £150.00. Upon arrest of the male, over £700.00 of Warhammer figurines were found in his car, when searched by Police.
Dagogo was bailed whilst further enquiries were conducted regarding the Warhammer goods. During this time, Police attended Dave’s Bookshop in Letchworth Garden City who confirmed that all of the Warhammer goods were stolen.
Dagogo attended Stevenage Police Station on Friday 24 July 2026, whereby he was charged with both offences and is due to attend Stevenage Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 1 September 2026 for a hearing.
A male has been arrested following an operation was conducted by Tesco following several thefts of fuel
Ryan Harris, aged 37 of High Street, Biggleswade has been charged with seven counts of Making off Without Payment (Theft of diesel) after an internal operation was conducted by Tesco. Several fuel thefts had taken place at Tesco Stevenage and Tesco, Baldock between the dates of 27/06/2026 – 04/08/2026, whereby Harris (an ex-employee) had stolen a total of £2'256.75. He did this by using a key which circumvented the fuel pumps and allowed him to take over 200 litres of fuel at a time before driving away without completing payment.
Security detained Harris upon his latest attempt and was subsequently arrested by Police before being charged with the thefts. He is due to appear at Stevenage Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 14 October for a hearing.
Several arrests were conducted in Stevenage Town Centre after reports of a knife being brandished.
On Friday 7 August 2026, Police had received a call stating that a member of the public had seen several youths in Stevenage Town Centre with one of them showing off a knife. Police had entered the town, found the group of youths and detained them all of a search. During this time, a kitchen knife, plyers, two screwdrivers and a small amount of cannabis was found.
Four youths were arrested for Possession of an offensive weapon, Burglary and Possession of Cannabis and taken to Stevenage Custody for questioning. As a result o this, all youths have been bailed for further enquiries.
A male has been arrested after being shown as wanted for a shoplifting in Stevenage.
Mario Chambers, aged 36 of Shephall Way, Stevenage was arrested by Police on Saturday 8 August 2026 after Police found the wanted male. The theft occurred at Boots, Stevenage Town Centre on Friday 17 July 2026, whereby Chambers had stolen two electric toothbrushes to the value of £169.98. He has been charged and will be attending Stevenage Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 15 September for a first hearing.
Police were conducting proactive patrols when they came across a vehicle missing its entire rear bumper and rear nearside brake light out. Upon conducting the stop of the motor, Police found that the driver of the vehicle was driving with only a provisional licence. Upon questioning the damage to the vehicle, the driver stated that they had smashed into a wall one month earlier before driving off and did not report this to their insurance.
Police were quick to seize the motor and report the driver for the following offences;
- Driving otherwise in accordance with a drivers licence
- Driving without insurance
- Driving with a defective/broken brake light
The vehicle was seized and the driver will be attending court in the coming months.
Operation Scootherts continues to see more seizures as a result of our proactive patrols. The following has been seized by our officers;
- X7 E-scooters.
All riders have been reported for the relevant offences and will be attending court for traffic offences. The E-scooters have been seized and crushed adding to the ever growing pile.
I as well as many other colleagues have had to privilege to be invited and take part in this years Barrio Fiesta at Event Island Stevenage. Celebrating far eastern culture and diversity in our communities, this event was jam-packed with music, food and great vibes. It was especially fun to engage with the community and have a laugh. I want to extend my thanks for the warm welcome from all those who had attended and I cannot wait for the next one.
 Tackling antisocial behaviour can be a complex issue, and one which requires input and action from more than just the police. The Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 aims to put victims first, giving power to local people and enabling professionals to find the best solutions for their local area. The act provides the police, local authorities and other local agencies with flexible tools and powers that they can use to respond quickly and effectively to antisocial behaviour. These include: - civil injunctions.
- criminal behaviour orders.
- public spaces protection orders.
- community protection notices.
- dispersal powers.
- closure powers.
The act also includes measures such as the Community Remedy and antisocial behaviour case reviews which empower victims and communities to have a say in the outcome of their reports and hold agencies to account.
