Violence Against Woman & Girls

A  Harlesden & Kensal Green VAWG walkabout was conducted in the local area to identify locations where women and girls may feel vulnerable or unsafe. Areas assessed included key pedestrian routes, public spaces, transport links, parks, and poorly lit locations.

During the walkabout, attention was given to environmental factors such as lighting, visibility, overgrown vegetation, CCTV coverage, and opportunities for natural surveillance. Engagement was also undertaken with members of the public and local businesses to gather feedback regarding safety concerns and anti-social behaviour.

Several areas for improvement were identified and will be raised with relevant partners for consideration. Reassurance patrols will continue in identified locations, with ongoing monitoring of reported incidents and community intelligence.

The walkabout provided valuable insight into community safety concerns and supports the ongoing commitment to making public spaces safer for women and girls.
