I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Anti-social behaviour - General, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey. ๐ Out and About in Normanton โ Community, Conversation & Action! Itโs been another busy day for the Normanton SNT โ and as always, thereโs rarely such a thing as a โquiet oneโ! ๐
Today, PCSO Alvey and PCSO Lawson were joined by PCSO Supervisor Coleman for a pop-up engagement stand at the bottom of Normanton Road.
And what a great few hours it was! ๐
We spoke with dozens of local residents and businesses, listening to concerns, answering questions and completing Derbyshire Alerts to help us understand what matters most to the people who live and work in our community.
But engagement is only one part of what we do.
During the day, the team also: ๐ Tackled illegally parked vehicles ๐บ Dealt with street drinking ๐ Responded to concerns around dangerously driven vehicles ๐ค Spoke with local businesses and strengthened those all-important community relationships
Building relationships with the people who live and work in Normanton is a huge part of our role. The conversations we have today can help shape the policing we deliver tomorrow.
Meanwhile, other members of the team were out and about dealing with a completely different side of SNT policing โ assisting with mental health incidents and carrying out stop searches where people were found to be in possession of Class B controlled substances.
From a friendly chat over a cup of coffee, to dealing with incidents that require immediate action โ SNT policing really can take you anywhere!
It might not always make the headlines, but every conversation, every intervention and every bit of reassurance matters.
๐ Whether itโs building relationships, solving local problems or getting stuck into some action-packed policing, the Normanton SNT is here for our community.
Weโre out. Weโre listening. And weโre taking action. ๐ฎโโ๏ธ๐

Tackling antisocial behaviour can be a complex issue, and one which requires input and action from more than just the police. The Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 aims to put victims first, giving power to local people and enabling professionals to find the best solutions for their local area. The act provides the police, local authorities and other local agencies with flexible tools and powers that they can use to respond quickly and effectively to antisocial behaviour. These include: - civil injunctions.
- criminal behaviour orders.
- public spaces protection orders.
- community protection notices.
- dispersal powers.
- closure powers.
The act also includes measures such as the Community Remedy and antisocial behaviour case reviews which empower victims and communities to have a say in the outcome of their reports and hold agencies to account. If you ever experience this issue or have information regarding an incident, please report it using our online reporting tools at https://www.derbyshire.police.uk/, speak to an operator in our Force Communications Room via our online web chat or call the non-emergency number 101. Alternatively, you can stay 100 per cent anonymous by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their untraceable online form at crimestoppers-uk.org.
