Stolen Vehicle Recovered

Dear Resident

Earlier today, a Toyota Hilux was reported stolen from an address in Oldham.

Whilst I was out on routine patrol with Sgt Holian checking our known “Hot Spot” areas we located the stolen vehicle parked up in Diggle. 

The vehicle has since been recovered and secured for forensic examination, the owner has been informed and updated regarding the recovery.

Crime Prevention Advice for Keyless Entry Vehicles

Many modern vehicles, including some Toyota models, are equipped with keyless entry and keyless start systems. Criminals can target these vehicles using relay devices that amplify the signal from keys left inside properties.

To help protect your vehicle:

 Keep vehicle keys away from doors, windows and letterboxes.
 Store keys in a signal-blocking pouch (often called a Faraday pouch) and regularly check that it remains effective.
 Consider turning off keyless entry if your vehicle manufacturer provides this option.
 Use additional security devices such as steering wheel locks, tracking devices or immobilisers.
 Ensure your vehicle is locked and valuables are removed from view.
 Report any suspicious activity, particularly individuals seen near vehicles with electronic devices.
