🚨🛴⚡ NL64 Beat Team Advice: What's Legal and What's Illegal? ⚡🏍️

We've had reports of e-scooters, e-bikes and off-road bikes being ridden around the area. Here's a simple guide:

✅ LEGAL

🛴 E-Scooters

On private land only, with the landowner's permission.

🚲 E-Bikes

Must have pedals.

Maximum motor power of 250W.

Electric assistance must stop at 15.5mph.

Can be ridden on roads and cycle routes like a normal bicycle.

🏍️ Off-Road Bikes

On private land with the owner's permission.

On public roads only if the bike is road legal, taxed, insured and the rider has the correct licence.

❌ ILLEGAL

🛴 Riding a privately owned e-scooter on:

Roads 🚗

Pavements 🚶

Parks 🌳

Cycle paths 🚲

⚡ Riding an e-bike that has been modified to go faster than the legal limit or operate without pedalling.

🏍️ Riding off-road bikes on:

Parks

Playing fields

Footpaths

Public open spaces

Land without permission

🚓 ENFORCEMENT

The NL64 Beat Team is carrying out patrols and will take action where offences are identified. Illegal vehicles may be seized, and riders could face fines, penalty points or prosecution.
