ASK FOR ANGELA CAMPAIGN

👮 Officers have successfully run a series of test visits to venues in the south of the county as part of the national Ask For Angela campaign.

Throughout June and July, officers visited venues across Cannock, Rugeley, Stafford, Stone, Tamworth and Burton-upon-Trent.

26 venues were tested to assess staff awareness and implementation of the safeguarding initiative, aimed at helping anyone, but particularly women and girls, in need of support while on a night out.

From the venues tested, 24 responded appropriately, with staff recognising the phrase and taking effective action to support and safeguard the individual.

The two venues that did not respond appropriately were given advice and guidance by the officers to better recognise and implement the scheme in the future.

DI Cat Holland, of our public protection unit, who was part of the testing scheme alongside DC Kara Evans and DC Lily Rowley, said: “These results demonstrate the strong commitment shown by the vast majority of venues in helping to create safer environments for customers.

“Following the tests, officers will work closely with the venues identified as non-compliant, providing additional support, guidance and awareness training to ensure they are fully informed about the scheme and equipped to respond effectively to any future safeguarding concerns.”
