Good evening residents,
The purpose of this correspondence is to make you aware that through the night of Friday 21st August into Saturday 22nd August we had two motor vehicle thefts that were taken off driveways by means of burglary. On both occasions the suspects gained access to residents property via a ground floor window, the car keys were found, taken and then used to drive the vehicles away.
Below are a few points to consider to
• Thieves will often burgle houses to steal vehicle keys. Keep yours safe and avoid obvious storage places such as hallways and kitchens. • Keep valuables out of sight from any windows and store keys away from letterboxes. • If you don’t have one, consider fitting a tracking device to your vehicle to help recover it if stolen. • Thieves can use equipment to scan for your electronic key and create a blank key that they can use to access your vehicle. • When not in use keep your electronic key in a pouch called a faraday pouch. It is lined with metal which prevents the key from being scanned by thieves.
If you would like any further advice then please do get in touch with your local policing team.
