Trentham and Hanford - vehicle theft update arrest made, attempt theft of motorbike, Neighbourhood Watch update, Crime prevention visits and Police Street surgeries

Good afternoon everyone,

A very warm welcome to everyone who has joined Staffordshire Smart Alerts over the last few days. We’ve had a lot of new sign ups recently, which is brilliant to see. At the time of writing there are now 1535 persons registered to receive these e-mails in the Trentham and Hanford area. Towards the bottom of this email are the dates, times and locations of upcoming Police Street Surgeries and I’ve also put some Smart Alert Tips, to help improve this service. 

Updates – vehicle thefts - Arrest made 

Firstly, some very positive news.

A man has been charged with a series of burglary and theft offences, including three vehicle thefts in Stoke-on-Trent. 

Ibrar Tariq, 31, of Stoke, Stoke-on-Trent, has been charged with burglary dwelling and theft – no violence, two counts of attempted burglary with intent to steal, two counts of receiving stolen goods and three counts of theft of a motor vehicle.

It comes following a series of separate investigations into burglaries, attempted burglaries and vehicle thefts in the Hanford area. 

Appeals – attempt theft of motor bike - Carrick Pl. 

We have received a report that on 24/08/26, between approximately 15:00 – 15:30, 4 males, who appear of juvenile age, attended Carrick Pl and attempted to steal a motorbike from the driveway of a property.

No theft took place.

Neighbourhood Watch update 

Myself and a colleague have delivered the Neighbourhood Watch welcome packs to all addresses (175 houses) within the recently set up new zone.

My long-term plan is to continue to frequently create new Neighbourhood Watch zones throughout the Trentham and Hanford area. I am already looking for the next location and will update you all once this has been confirmed and applied for.

Crime Prevention visits – ‘We Knocked To Check You Locked’ 

On 24/08/26 I randomly attended Janson St to complete crime prevention visits.
